What started as a bet became one of the most transformative experiences of our lives: could we feed ourselves from our urban garden for an entire month? Here's what happened.
Week 1: The Abundance
The first week was easier than expected. Our kangkung, bayam, and herbs were producing well. We ate stir-fries, salads, and fresh sambals. We felt proud and a little smug.
Week 2: The Reality Check
By week two, we had eaten through most of the ready-to-harvest crops. We had to get creative with young leaves, flowers, and parts of plants we had never eaten before. We learned that different parts of the same plant can taste completely different.
Week 3-4: A New Relationship with Food
By the final weeks, our relationship with food had fundamentally changed. We wasted nothing. Every leaf felt precious. We understood, in our bodies, why food security matters  and why growing your own food is a radical act of self-determination.
